Description
This pipe has some advantages over a simple hole in the case that sucks in fresh air. A dust filter can be installed under the front cover, which will protect the PC's circuitry from dust, hair and other crap. It can be easily replaced which makes maintenance a lot easier. Without a filter at the intakes the inside would be covered in dust after a few weeks, which would be bad for the cooling fans and the PCBs. You should add a dust filter to every intake fan in your case. |
 | The open pipe. There's a strong 92mm NMB fan that sucks in air behind the dust filter. |
 | The dust filter is behind the front cover of the pipe. You can use filter wadding for fume hoods, they are pretty cheap and have several layers which can be separated to get thinner filters. If they are too thick the air flow will be hindered. |
 | At the moment the pipe is quite long. It will be shortened later so it looks better. It's also possible to mount a flexible aluminum tube which sucks in fresh air from outdoors. |
