My HiFi system has only two line-ins but I need at least four (TV, DVD, PC, notebook) and the PC and the notebook have a low output level. There was only one solution: a mixer/preamp!
The TV gets its own line-in (ego) while the other devices are connected via a mixer (which adds the three inputs through two 741 OPs), the default amplification is v=1.00 but it can be altered for each of the inputs.
Of course the OPs need a positive and negative voltage. It wouldn't be difficult to equip a small transformer featuring two secondary windings with a rectifier and voltage regulators, but why if the HiFi system itself provides these voltages?
And there you are, I had barely opened the cover I arleady saw a few nice regulators: 7807 and 7907, which means +7V and -7V.. Perfect! |
Badass cut-out in the back cover of the HiFi system (made with a side cutter)
9-pin SUB-D connectors rule if you don't have any other suitable connectors
Connected on the inside (there are a lot of circuits in there :)
Potentiometers to choose the selective amplification.
The PreAMP on top, the case was taken from some old Telecom device.
The different channels of the mixer and the amplification can be controlled on the front panel
Chinch jacks for the signals and a SUB-D connector for the voltage supply.
The two power LEDs were added at the last moment.
Way too hitech/ghetto to understand :)
The cable of an old serial mouse was used for the voltage supply.
and is connected to the HiFi system.
